Apple Event Everything to Expect From the ‘It’s Glow Time’
There are multiple new devices on the horizon, including new iPhone 16 models, refreshes for all of the Apple Watches, new AirPods 4, and perhaps some other surprises.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
The Action Button, previously exclusive to Pro models, is set to be incorporated into all versions of the iPhone 16, including the standard and Plus variants. This feature offers various customizable functions, such as enabling Focus mode, launching Shortcuts, accessing the Camera, or switching on the Flashlight. With the upcoming iOS 18 update, the Action Button’s capabilities will expand further, allowing users to assign Control Center functions to it. Additionally, third-party developers will gain the ability to create their own Control Center options for use with the Action Button.
Apple Watch Series 10
This year, Apple plans to update the Apple Watch, but there’s uncertainty surrounding the specifics of the upcoming release. The Apple Watch was initially unveiled in September 2014, making 2024 its 10th anniversary and the “Series 10” iteration. However, the device didn’t hit the market until 2015. Speculation about a significant anniversary redesign has been circulating, but it remains unclear whether this overhaul will occur this year or next. The timing of this potential major update has led to some confusion and speculation among industry observers.
Apple Watch Ultra 3
Any new health capabilities introduced in the Apple Watch Series 10 will also be incorporated into the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra model set to launch this autumn. While no changes to the design or physical aspects of the device are anticipated, it will be equipped with the same processor and health-related features that Apple intends to integrate into the Apple Watch Series 10.
Apple Watch SE 3
The Apple Watch SE 3 could get a refresh this fall, and there are rumors that Apple will use a plastic casing rather than an aluminum casing for the device.
Air Pods 4
Apple is developing two new models of the AirPods 4, each featuring a redesigned appearance. The upcoming AirPods will blend elements from the current AirPods and AirPods Pro, incorporating a more compact stem. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the new models will have an improved fit, though the specifics of this enhancement remain unclear.
AirPods Max
In 2024, Apple intends to update the AirPods Max, but expectations should be tempered. The primary changes are likely to be limited to replacing the Lightning port with a USB-C port and potentially introducing new color choices. No additional features are anticipated. The release of this refreshed version is more probable towards the end of the year rather than during the September event.
iPad mini 7
The Apple iPad mini 7 could see an update in 2024, but it likely Maybe not coming at Apple’s September event. Apple is said to be planning to hold a second event in October 2024, and it would make more sense for the new iPad mini to come out then alongside new M4 Macs.
iPad 11
The iPad hasn’t been refreshed since 2022, There are rumors suggesting maybe we could get a new model in 2024, but it too will likely come out later in the year.
Apple Software Updates
iPhone Operating System 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2 are in beta testing, and at the fall event, Apple will give us a heads up on when the new Apple operating system updates will be released.
There may also be Apple Artificial Intelligence features that are exclusive to the iPhone 16 models that Apple has been keeping under wraps, so there may be some software-based surprises coming.
