Iran Successfully Launched a Research Satellite Chamran 1 into Orbit

Iran launched its high level research satellite into space mission on Saturday, whose signals have begun to be received on Station Earth.

According to Iran’s official news agency Islamic Republic News Agency (Irna), the 60 kg Chamran One satellite was launched into space for research mission on Saturday, which has successfully reached a 550 km orbit.

According to the official report, the research satellite has been sent into space mission with the help of a high level rocket ‘Qaim 100’ made locally by Revolutionary Guards.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) report, signals have been received from the satellite on the ground. Earlier in January this year, Iran said it had successfully launched three satellites into space research mission.

Iran has built up its own space mission program over the years despite Western sanctions, while Tehran’s satellite program is seen by the West as an improvement on modern Basaltic missile technology.

Iran has newly launched a next level satellite into space mission at a time when tensions in the Middle East are on the rise due to the escalation of Israel’s operations against Hamas in Gaza and there are fears of a regional war spreading.

The United States of America has previously said that Iran’s satellite launch is against the United Nation Security Council resolution. Washington has urged Tehran to refrain from acquiring the capability to deliver nuclear weapons via powerful ballistic missiles.

The sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council (UN) on Iran’s ballistic missile program ended in October last year.
