SpaceX, a historic mission launched for a private walk in space, has successfully returned to Earth on Sunday, September 2024 morning.
According to the American news agency ‘Associated Press‘, the capsule of SpaceX’s ‘Polaris Dawn Mission’ landed in the Gulf of Mexico early in the morning near Tortugas Island in the United State of America (US) state of Florida.
The people involved in the space mission performed the first private spacewalk, orbiting the Earth at a distance of around about 740 km. The mission has performed a sparwalk at a height greater than the distance of the International Space Station and the Hubble Space Telescope from Earth.
The historic space mission took off from the Kennedy Space Station in Florida on Tuesday, September 2024 morning carrying four people.
The Willis Dawn mission included its leader, billionaire businessman Jared Isaacman, 41, two SpaceX employees and a retired United State of America military pilot.
After the space mission’s success, Isaacman became the world 264th person to walk in space, while SpaceX’s Sarah Gillis became the world 265th.
Please you can keep in your mind that so far only professional and trained astronauts have walked in space.
After landing near US State of Florida Island, Isaacman radioed that his mission was accomplished. With in hour, the four men who had returned from the mission were out of the spaceX capsule.
According to official reports, when the four men exited the spaceX capsule, they were elated with the success of their mission.
No one human has reached this height in the around about last 50 years. It was three times higher than the height of the International Space Station. However, in 1970, the crew of the Apollo 13 mission to the moon went to a record height of about four hundred thousand kilometers, but they had to return without landing on the moon.
The spaceX mission was officially scheduled to take off on August 27, 2024 last month, but the spaceX mission was delayed for 24 hours due to helium leakage from a component connecting the tower to the rocket before takeoff. However, the mission was later postponed again due to natural issues like bad weather.
On August 28, after another launch, the ‘Falcon 9’ rocket crashed into the sea after catching fire while landing. After which the US Federal Aviation Administration grounded ‘Falcon 9’. However, last Tuesday, SpaceX mission succeeded in sending into space.
In the past, only highly enthusiastic, professional, trained and government funded astronauts have gone on spacewalks mission. Since the official establishment of the International Space Station in 2000, 270 astronauts, including 16 astronauts in China National Space Administration ‘Tiangong’ space station, have performed spacewalks mission.
It should be noted that the spacewalk during this mission lasted less than two hours, which was much less than the International Space Station. Much of this time was spent depressurizing the entire capsule and restoring cabin air.
According to official reports, SpaceX’s by Elon Musk, Anna Menon and Scott Kidpotet also wore spacesuits.
It should be noted that this short mission has been declared as an important milestone in the testing of spacesuit technology for the future. After this trial of the spacesuits, they will also be used for larger missions such as reaching Mars.
